I woke on Wednesday morning to find that it had snowed during the night and everywhere was blanketed in a light dusting. I pulled on my clothes, grabbed my camera gear and tripod and walked off into the pre-dawn gloom, to find the field near my house where I had shot solitary trees in the snow a few years beforehand.
The sky was a complete blanket of cloud, so dawn only offered the slightest hint of colour behind the flat grey backdrop of cloud but the trees made a nice contrasty subject against an otherwise almost featureless scene. I set up my camera, composed a few shots and figured it was time for a cup of tea.
I returned home, hopeful but quietly confident that I had bagged a few nice images before I’d even had my Shredded Wheat!
