So last weekend two punk bands (both from Tunbridge Wells) played at different venues in the town which meant that it was time for a little concert photography.
On Friday Slaves played a show at The Assembly Rooms, a two-piece with a pretty good light show and a big stage. I was able to get nice and close and the large stage meant that I was able to get some nice pics.
On the Saturday night I was at The Forum in Tunbridge Wells watching the Anti-Nowhere League playing at their annual Christmas gig at The Forum. The venue was packed full and easy viewing angles were limited, I was lucky enough to be allowed access to the Sound platform (an area at the back of the venue which is raised) but the Christmas Lights made life a little awkward – I found that the best result were obtained by laying on the floor and shooting just underneath the Christmas Lights. It was possible to wade through the crowd and get right to the front of the packed venue but I had only packed a 70-200mm and a 50mmm, so framing was a bit of an issue – perhaps next time a 24-70 would be a better fit in the crown (although it’s a lot more expensive if it gets broken in the mosh-pit!).
