Hastings Pirate Day is a colourful affair, to say the least. It’s now been a calendar fixture for 10 years and is going from strength to strength. Hasting currently holds the World Record for the Largest Gathering of Pirates – 6,166 in total! I don’t think that this year’s attendance was that high but those that were there in full costume on a blisteringly hot summer’s day, really did put the effort in with some fantastic costumes.
It was a pleasure to walk through the crowds ‘collecting pirates’ with my camera; indeed, everyone was very happy to stop for a few moments to give this rather hot and sweaty chap with a large sunhat and a camera the chance to take their photograph. I’ll definitely be returning next year.
