I get asked to take photographs at all sorts of different events and although I’ve done product photography for a funeral directors in the past, this was the first funeral that I’ve been asked to cover.

Funerals are obviously very private affairs so I tried to keep in the background as much as possible which meant a lot of longer lens images, even on wider shots, as, even though I was asked to be there, I didn’t want to get in anybody’s way.

The images were well received by all parties; they have been shared not only by the client but also by the people that supplied the horse & carriage and by the funeral directors. The current pandemic has effected people in many different ways and funerals are one of them, My images were used to allow family and friends that weren’t able to attend the service to be included in what happened on the day, quite a responsibility.
